Momokawa Maru

Japanese passenger-cargo ship Momokawa Maru in Truk Lagoon (Chuuk)
During the “Hailstone” attack 1944, Momokawa Maru was bombed by US aircrafts.
Lying on her port side in 43m (140 ft) of water, she has interesting cargo of Betty Bomber parts, wheels, and truck frames, plus the most intact bridge house within all wrecks of Truk Lagoon. You can see some trucks in the cargo hold in front of the bridge.
The structure starts at 21m water depth and that makes it easy accessible for sports divers.

Displacement: 3,829 tons Length: 107m (352ft) Beam: 15m (50ft) Engine: 1 turbine steam / coal Max Speed: 14.9 kts. She was built in 1940, as a timber transporter.

The dive

I scanned the wreck on Feb. 14th 2025 during one dive. The maximum depth was 43m and my dive time was 77min.
