The 1876 built Norwegian galeas SV Affaire, on a voyage from Riga to Helsingør with 166 tons of oil cake, ran aground at Årsdale south of Svaneke, slipped off and badly leaking sank in deeper water in December1893. The crew of 6 made landfall at Årsdale in the ship’s dinghy.
The Dive
I dived and scanned the wreck in August 2026 in 40m water depth.
