Levanzo

SS LEVANZO was an Italian steel hulled cargo steamer that was on route from Genoa for Durban carrying a cargo of salt and a general cargo when she ran aground and was wrecked on the Elba Reef, Red Sea on the 14th March 1923.

The wreck of the SS “Levanzo” is located on the southern plateau of Elba reef with the stern section lying on board the lash on a seabed of 27 meters with the keel facing upwards while the bow section slopes down to a depth of 70 meters where it rests on the sandy bottom.
