At this location, two World War II tugboats lie just 46 meters apart. One of the vessels is a steam tug, the other a diesel tug—presumably named “Mannheim.” It is completely unclear why these two sank.
The two wrecks were mentioned by the BSH since August 2025:
“28.8.2015 TWO SW WKS 15MTRS IN 5440.xxN, 1244.xxE”
The dive
I scanned the wrecks in September 2025

Diesel Tug – MANNHEIM
The diesel tug has a size of 30,7m x 5,7m and had the name MANNHEIM on the back. A strange detail is the fact, that the diesel engine lays shiftet in the machine room. What caused that?
Steam tug
The steamer was a bit smaller: 26m x 6,4m.
Its name is unknown.
